Our veterinary ophthalmology service diagnoses and treats numerous eye conditions that, similar to humans, can impact the health of our animals. In our clinic, we have the following diagnostic tools:
- Schirmer test: for dry eye diagnosis.
- Fluorescein test: to detect corneal ulcers.
- Slit lamp: for examining the anterior segment of the eyeball.
- Direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy: for examining the ocular fundus.
- Applanation tonometer: for measuring intraocular pressure.
- Gonioscopy lens: for examining the iridocorneal angle (essential in the diagnosis and prevention of glaucoma).
- Cytology and biopsy: of corneal, conjunctival, and tumor samples.
- Electroretinograph: for studying the electrical activity of the retina in diseases of the posterior segment and as a pre-surgical assessment for cataracts.
- 4x magnification loupes.
Among the numerous extraocular surgeries we perform, notable procedures include reducing prolapse of the third eyelid gland, correcting entropion and ectropion, applying liquid nitrogen to resolve distichiasis, evisceration and enucleation, and resecting eyelid tumors.
